Process Improvement

All of your line component suppliers have technical service departments that repair their equipment and supply appropriate new parts.  However, most of the calls that come into vendor service departments describe operational problems rather than mechanical or electrical malfunctions.  In those cases, no service is available to help you resolve the issue as typically, a maintenance department can only provide assistance with mechanical or electrical problems.

In these difficult circumstances, seemingly difficult and chronic process problems can be resolved by identifying the process variable (or multiple variables) that is causing the problem.  Once identified, the possible solutions become apparent.  Another option is a complete Process Improvement Assessment resulting in recommendations from "best known practices".  Our process improvement services focus on process variables that are likely the root cause of all flatline performance difficulties when nothing mechanical or electrical is obviously broken.  These types of problems are also the source of poor line performance statistics by causing high first pass rejects and unplanned downtime.

Process Improvement is customized to your situation and can be any or a combination of:

  • single problem resolution

  • recommended change in quality control methods

  • facilitation of a formalized Process Control Program with written documentation

  • on-line quality control testing

  • on-line process maintenance schedules

The goal of this type of program is to assure that finishing production schedules are met, first pass quality standards are met, supply costs are predictable, and unplanned downtime does not occur.
